KVK Health Interventions

KVK interventions in the health sector work to improve access to quality health services for the poor and marginalised communities. By identifying the root causes of healthcare challenges, KVK works at the individual, community and systemic levels to develop innovative solutions and implement quality healthcare services.

Their efforts span community engagement, collaborations with government and civil society organisations, and emphasize inclusion—particularly for women and children.

  • Organise free health check-up camps in collaboration with hospitals.
  • Conduct awareness programs on AIDS, Dengue, Drug abuse, and Chicken Guinea.
  • Campaigns against female foeticide and education on child vaccination.
  • Promote hygiene and cleanliness in rural schools and villages.
  • Educate the public on health department schemes and benefits.
  • Identify early-stage health issues among poor students and help access treatment.
  • Provide dental extractions and free implants under the “Dantha Bhagya” scheme.
  • Offer free cataract surgeries under state schemes for BPL families.

KVK’s Blood Link Initiative

KVK motivates youth, especially at age 18, to become voluntary blood donors. Despite a large eligible population, only 4–7% donate, and most only once a year. With an annual state requirement of 6.25 lakh units, there's a critical gap.

KVK was born from a real emergency where friends struggled to find blood, realizing the importance of proactive voluntary donation. Since then, they’ve pledged to address this challenge across Karnataka.

Karl Landsteiner – KVK Hall

The state’s first blood donor office, named after the discoverer of ABO blood groups, commemorates voluntary blood donors and serves as a multi-purpose hall supporting blood donation efforts.
